Rum	is	a	distilled	alcoholic	beverage	made	from	sugarcane byproducts,	such	as	molasses,	or	directly	from	sugarcane	juice,	by	a	process	of	fermentation	and	distillation.	The	majority	of	the	world's	rum	production	occurs	in	the	Caribbean	and	Latin	America.	The	sweet	and	fragrant	taste	of	rum	can	vary	across	the	many	varieties,	including,	light	rum,	dark	rum,	flavored	rum,	overproof	rum,	and	gold	rum.	Similarly,	the	color	can	range	from	a	dark	amber	brown	to	completely	colorless,	and	the	alcohol	content	can	vary	from	roughly	38%-50%.
